“3 Generations”

Acrylic on canvas

$1000

This painting tells the story of three generations of women in a family and tribe. I was inspired by the fact that when a grandmother is pregnant with her daughter, she has already developed all the eggs that will ever become her grandchildren.

It's amazing to think that we all started our lives inside of our grandmothers.

I really wanted to depict that strong connection of the 3 generations of women and all the knowledge and wisdom and medicine that is passed down through those generations and the vital role of our mothers and grandmothers in our families, tribes and wider communities.

Shell Midden

Acrylic on canvas

110 x 74 cm

$1000

This painting represents the Shell Middens you may find along coastal areas created by saltwater tribes like the Murulla people within the Kabi Kabi nation and language group who were shellfish eaters. These middens were created as a special place to put all shells, fish bones ect to keep the area clean and ensure no one in the tribe would step on shells and bones. This specific shell midden to me represents our close connection to the saltwater and sea country. To me this piece represents the beginning of one of the first midden being created by my people and the shells being placed on the midden for the first time and the flow and harmony of our coexistence with the land and sea country.
