Carol favours alternative firing methods such as saggar, raku, and naked raku, with firings quite unpredictable, and most glaze free.  Considerable experimentation creates an immense sense of anticipation with varied atmospheric conditions affecting the outcome.  One thing is guaranteed……..no two pots will ever be exactly the same. Over the last 15 years, Carol has developed a love of alternative firing methods such as saggar, raku and naked raku.  This involves working in varied atmospheric conditions, using organic combustibles, oxides and sometimes her own glazes, giving at times, breathtaking results.   The serendipity and unpredictability of these methods ensures no two pots are ever the same, with each piece telling its own story.  The resulting spontaneous surfaces evoke memories of times and events past.
