Sisters

Clay, emu feathers, shells, raffia

40 x 50

$300 each (2 sculptures)

The shells that wash up on our coastline were once home to living creatures. What we find on our walks on the beach are the bones that are left behind. These female forms are made from sandy white clay to symbolise the bleached white bones that will eventually break down and return to the ocean and country that once created them. The feathers of the emu represent the relationship between the sisters who exist now and all the sisters who remain with us in spirit.
