The Willy Wagtail (my given totem) was named Guritcha during the Bpangerang Peoples Dreamtime. Wearing the same colours and named bravest bird for protecting its young by the brave Yirrador (magpie). Guritcha builds its waterproof nest, near waterways, out of spider webs, fibres and hair pulled from animal’s backs. Guritcha lives safely by my home at the foot of Mount Mellum where I enjoy its call “Guritcha-guritcha” as it dances for me.
