‘Eco death’

2018.

Ink and paper.

A4.

Not for sale.

This is part of a series that I was working on, using prints from actual dead animals. My dad would go on a walk every day along the side of the road and bring back dead animals that had been run over by cars. I would print from their flattened bodies as a way to represent and respect their lives and deaths. I hope that this art might make us more careful on the roads and consider the lives of other animals when we travel.

Pit fired pots.

2019.

Clay, natural materials, copper sulphate, salt.

Not for sale.

I’ve always been inspired by nature and hope to represent it through my artwork. Woodfiring of ceramics has always been one of my favourite ways of doing this, until I discovered pitfiring. I love the immediacy of the patterns and colours that emerge from natural materials and smoke.

I am a young artist living in the Noosa hinterland, practicing print making, painting, and pottery. My parents are woodworker and writer, having run the Cooroora Institute over many years. I am interested in exploring the depths of nature and place and seeing what natural materials have to teach us.
