Story

My name is Habibullah Rahim a survival of war an persecution, I was born in January 1997 in a very remote part of Afghanistan, grew up in Hazara ethnic minority ethnic group, Hazaras have faced decade-long violent,persecution, From young age, i was so interested in books and story telling, among the other of my ages I was so lucky to have a local school near to my home, it was about 2km far from my home every day I walked to school, and my father was also working in that school as a school servant, when my father was arranging the school library books I was searching for story books, beside that was also helping my father with his job, my father job was so dangerous for his security, he was delivering books from Ghazni the province of my district Jaghori, he was threatened for many by the Taliban, lettering him to not do that job, and my father was doing his job so Recklessly, Taliban believes that the books and education can change the mindset of young generation toward their religious beliefs. In 2014 Suddenly everything changed my father and I caught by the Taliban, and I managed to Escape, finally I’m ended in Indonesia, Registered to UNHCR for refugee, My life in Indonesia, it was my first time to be in another country, the culture, the environment and the language was so different, after I registered to UNHCR I had not a place to live, I surrounded myself IOM to give me a place to live in they put me in detention centre in west Kalimantan of Indonesia, it was my first experience to be in a place like a prison, I have struggled with so many disease deprivation, and loneliness, I have lived for 4 years in detention centre from 2015 until 2018, I thought to myself I have to document this life, one day world will listen to me and hear my story, I start learning photography online using my mobile phone, I captured everything, daily life of refugees in detention centre Now I'm with so many photos and a short documentary film, finally at June /2018 I transferred from detention centre to refugee accommodation house, life is still difficult here still in 2022. Our very basic human rights have been taken from us, we are not allow to study, work and experience freedom.
