Personal statement

Mark finds inspiration based on first hand observations of Australian wildlife, his love of natural world, experiences of diving and the wonders of the underwater world. Typically, he explores the notion of zoomorphism, attributing animal characteristics to humans. It is an avenue for him to give respect and honour to relationships he has with loved ones and other people in his life. Mark's highly detailed, exquisite engravings are fine, complex illustrations, telling the stories of multifaceted relationships. Mark's magnificent woodwork is technically brilliant and his watercolour paintings are studies giving a glimpse of an animal he is planning to explore.

Mark is one of the Directors at Sonder Studio Gallery. 100% of the profit from the artworks he sells goes back into the social enterprise aspect of the gallery to hold community exhibitions.
