The stories of my people was told from my Great Grand Father Tom Johnson to my Grand Mother Amy Johnson/Hurley to my Father and then to me. Blood line bridging across time from the past to the present time, To have a strong blood line you need a strong foundation and strong roots. The red roots and branches bridging across time is the blood of our people and with the message stick in the middle is the knowledge of the stories and song lines that we pass from generation to generation. The blood Line of strong and proud people with the spirit of the old with in the young.

James Hurley - Ghymimi, From Gooreng Gooreng Mob - Bunda man, was born in Brisbane 1965 in a big family of 9 children. Father was a Gooreng Gooreng man and Mother is Irish. From the time I could hold a pencil in my hand I was Drawing, Dads brother Ron Hurley (The late Ron Hurley, was one of Australia leading contemporary Aboriginal Artist for his time) develop my skill and the love of the arts, Uncle Ron was my mentor. By the time I got to High School I was sketching portraits. I had a great teacher at Chanel College in Gladstone Miss Bass and was a friend until she died, I had her for two years at high school in year 9, 10, Miss Bass help me in so many way with my art. I had two great teachers in my life who help me on my way and I miss them both. My Art Works is about the things that are going on around me, from the past and the present. I'm an all-round artist from, Cartoon art, Sketching, Pointillism, Painting, Contemporary Art, Indigenous artefacts, Carving and Sculptures, Furniture making with carvings. I`m inspired by the sights and sounds of Central Queensland with a mixture of modernism and tradition and blends them together successfully in a style that has become uniquely my own. I love the Arts it is my Dreaming. I`m and will always be a student of the Arts until the Day I die and go on to my Dreaming. Today I live with my Love, my two Dogs and a Tom cat in a 100 year old home at Brooloo QLD,
